Pool will open when contract signed

Some lifeguard interviews have taken place and more are scheduled.
We’re not quite home and dry yet. There is an understanding between ALM and Waltham Forest College which needs to become a contract and there’s a bit of work planned to be done on the pump. But if all goes well we could only have a very few weeks to wait before everyone can start using the pool again. We’ll post more info about likely costs, times etc after the next FOTP meeting on 26th January.
Pool could re-open in January!
7 December, 2009 at 9:27 pm | Posted in 30m swimming pool, college pool, fitness swimming, swimming in london, waltham forest college | Comments OffAfter much hard work from FOTP and Waltham Forest College working together to find a new operator, Active Leisure Managment (ALM) is now seriously interested in running the pool and hopes to open for swimming groups in January.
On a recent visit to the College, John Allan, Managing Director of ALM, was immediately struck by the pool and the number of groups who could use it for fitness training and teaching. The idea now is to open it gradually for use until a critical mass of users can be attracted to the pool in January. Next, details need to be sorted out before a contract can be signed. Robin Jones described the meeting with ALM, who specialise in managing pools within educational establishments, as well as many leisure centres throughout the country, as extremely positive and encouraging. There has been great success in the first stage of recruiting local pool attendants with many lifeguards coming forward and being put in touch with ALM.
