Newsflash: Swim cancelled Thurs Eve 23rd Feb

We’re very sorry to say that swimming has been cancelled tonight. There has been a serious boiler failure at the College and there is no heating in the entire building. The College have three firms of engineering contractors trying to fix the problem - the third one has just been called in after the other two have not been able to sort out the problem this morning.

Whilst I know that some members would not regard a cooler water temperature in both pool and shower as a barrier to a good swim, the vast majority enjoy warmer conditions. So Karen and her team have had no choice but to close the pool. Ironic on such a lovely Spring day. We are very sorry about this. We’ll email you just as soon as the problem is fixed.

After over £100,000 of work to modernise our 70 year-old pool, we opened on schedule on Saturday 8th October. Well done Karen, Claire Timbrell, our pool manager, with Tom and Jean Atkinson, Richard Dunkling and the team who’ve been working so hard to get the pool ready. So as you carve the water before you, look around and marvel at what we can all do together. Wow!

These are the swimming slots we are running for the Winter Term.

Mornings: Weds 7-8am/ Sat 9-10am
Lunchtime: Fri 12-1pm/ Sat 12-1pm (shared)
Evening: Mon 7-8pm/ Thurs 7-9pm (shared)
Afternoon: Weds 2-3.30pm (shared)

The cost is £75. We also have a special offer for Students and Staff of WFC. Check out the membership page for when to swim and how to pay.

When we re-open after 20th August you can come for a free swim. Contact us first, come along with costume and swimming cap. If you like your swim, fill in a form, pay online and join us.
